Thought I’d change it up a bit and fill out a survey
How many times do you wash your face daily?
Twice. With a cleanser at night, and just warm water in the morning.
What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo)
What is your current facial wash?
Shiseido’s Pureness Foaming Cleanser, on my 3rd bottle now and can’t see myself changing! I love that it removes my makeup so easily!
Do you exfoliate?
Yes, I try to do it religiously at least once a week, but if it’s been a long week I could forget
What brand do you use?
Laura Mercier’s Face Polish, the smell takes a bit of getting used to (because I’m not a fan of scented skin care products), but I love how fine the grains are, leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth.
What moisturiser do you use?
Clinique Super Rescue Antioxidant at night, and Superdefense SPF 25 Age Defense for the mornings.
Do you have freckles?
I think so! Very light tho.
Do you use eye cream?
Yes, Clarins Sun Control Eye Contour Care SPF30 for the day and Clinique All About Eyes for night.
Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
Back when I was a teenager, I had it terrible on my forehead. It was literally covered with scars! But as I entered my 20s, they slowly disappeared and I might get a pimple maybe once every 6 months now?
Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
Nope, I find it hard to trust stuff I see on info-mercials, even tho they could very well be great products, the fact that they are on an infomercials makes me steer clear. I’m cool like that, lol.
What foundation do you use?
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser SPF 20 for “normal” life when I feel like wearing makeup. Otherwise I have a range of different foundations depending on the type of shoot.
How about concealer?
Normally none, for shoots I use either Bobbi Brown or Laura Mericer.
Do you know your undertone color?
Nope, I feel like I should tho…
What do you think of fake eyelashes?
I adore the look, but I hate feeling them on my eyes and ouch when I take them off. Pain for beauty!
Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yes, but I usually throw mascara out based on how well it works. Once it starts to get clumpy, I throw it out.
What brand of mascara do you use?
Covergirl’s Lash Blast is my current favourite.
Sephora or MAC?
Given we don’t have a Sephora in Australia, MAC hands down.
Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
What makeup tools do you use in make up application?
Fingers, brushes, cotton buds, cotton pads and tissues.
Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Always if I’m wearing eyeshadow
For the face?
Yes, but only for photoshoots
What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?
This is constantly changing, right now I’m loving the Honeycomb trio by NYX.
Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
Neither, gel all the way! Pencils always smudge after a few hours, though I do use them for my waterline. Liquid liners haven’t really appealed to me.
How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
Never, but I have more often than I would like to admit, gotten a speck of gel eyeliner on my contacts, terribly irritating.
What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
Love them! But only when I have time to actually use them.
Do you use mineral makeup?
Yes, I’ve totally fallen victim to their entire marketing scheme
What is your favorite lipstick?
I don’t wear lipstick unless for photoshoots or special events
How about lipgloss?
I don’t wear lipgloss, unless for a photo shoot and then it would depend on the theme.
What is your favorite blush to use?
Toss up between NYX Blush in Natural and NARS Blush Orgasm.
Do you buy your makeup on ebay?
Only nail polish.
Do you like drugstore makeup?
Love it! It can be very very hit and miss unfortunately.
Do you go to CCO’s? (cosmetic company outlets)
I don’t think we have any in Australia
Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
I’d love too, just need to money and time.
Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
Not as bad as when I was a teenager!
Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Anything that isn’t flattering. I love being precise
Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
For work, always neutral. For everything else, the sky is the limit (especially when it comes to photoshoots)
Which celebrity always has great make up?
No idea, I don’t follow celebrities.
If you could leave the house using just ONE make up item, what would you use?
Eyeshadow, doubles as an eyeliner when wet!
Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Of course, and I do almost all the time. I only wear makeup to work if I’ve had a long night before and I don’t conduct photoshoots everyday
Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
Sure do (I think everyone looks great without makeup), but I know I look better with it (as do most people)
In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
Hmm…. I think each brand has a strong focus point. Like MAC with eyeshadows, GA for foundations, Bobbi Brown for concealers etc. I couldn’t live with just one brand!
What do you think of Makeup?
Makeup is art, it’s therapeutic and of course I love playing with it. It has so many purposes to many different people, and a great mutual topic for connecting with other people over

This look feels very rocker-chick to me, what with the hair style and blue star. After shooting the look, I couldn’t bring myself to remove the makeup till the end of the day! It just took so much time to draw the star on my face, but I’ll admit to getting a couple of stares when I left the house to pick up some dinner hehe.
Generally, I can’t see myself ever finding a suitable situation to wear this out, but I do love to experiment and go wild in the comfort of my own home all in the name of art! Certainly one of my less subtle looks

- Long wand, makes for easy application
- Smooth formula, no clumping
- No smudging (lasts all day)
- Could use a little bit more volume, personal choice
Where: Any Priceline, maybe supermarkets
This is Maybelline’s latest lengthening mascara, I’ve seen it spammed in almost all my fashion magazines, and with Priceline’s latest by 2 get 1 one Maybelline product free, I figured why not?
Last Stiletto is a solid mascara. Despite not getting the waterproof version, it did me proud throughout the day. If I wear makeup to work, I’ll put it on at around 7am, and I need it to last me till at least 7pm. So that’s 12 hrs, and this mascara did last that long without any smudging! (So long as there are no tears of course)
Personally, I tend to be a volume mascara kind of girl, so I’m not sure I would repurchase, but it’s definitely not a waste of money and will be completely used up
Right eye has the product, left eye is product-less. I’m wearing the shade Very Black.

Living in Australia can often mean limited fashion choices for people my size. I know I made a post about this last time, but seriously! It is so hard to find any XS or anything in size 4 when I go shopping. And if I do find it, chances are it’s not my style or exceedingly expensive.
So when I went over to Japan earlier this year, I made sure I could at least dedicate half a day to clothes shopping (our schedule was so tight I was lucky to even get that!)
That’s where I found this jacket, at surprisingly Forever 21! I know that’s an American brand, but there are none in Australia so I knew I had to visit it, if only to see what all the hype was all about.
The boots are a gray suede lace up, very comfortable and on sale at Nine West DFO Outlet.

I’m loving this look, I’m not sure where I could wear it, but I love how virbate the colours are! And I have to thank pigments for that, unless I apply my eyeshadows wet, I can never get the colours to be this stand out.
My face powder did have quite a bit of shine in it too, something in retrospect I probably would avoid in the future. I’d rather got more matte, and then selectively highlight later. In some of the photos I feel like my entire face is glowing, not exactly the image I was going for.
As for the name, I came up with the idea when I was thinking of the shell of beetles (and you can blame my current addiction to StarCraft 2 for that), how there sometimes is a rainbow effect under certain lights. As much as I hate insects, I think the pattern is really beautiful.

This won’t be your standard review, rather an overview This is the palette used for my Lookbook #5 entry. Having a bit of a collectors personality, since I already owned the 88 shimmer, matte and warm palette, when I saw metal mania appear on Coastal Scents’ website, I just knew I had to have it.
After all, the palette (and CS palettes in general) in comparison to other eyeshadows is insanely good priced! Buy 2 MAC eyeshadows can cover both the palette and postage!
This is great for a neutral autumn / winters looks (so perfect for those of us living in the Southern Hemisphere), I would definitely choose this over the Warm palette, purely for the variation. Planning to utilise this palette a lot more for future looks and everyday wear You can order them online from Coastal Scent’s website for $24.95US.

This look was inspired by Baroque music, namely Bach. I’ve been actively playing the classical piano for over 21 years, and every time work gets more intense (as per my last post), I find myself immersing myself in my music even further. It definitely helps relieve my stress levels, not to mention making my teacher very happy since I’m currently pursuing a diploma in the field.
I was really happy that I got to use the new Coastal Scents Metal Mania palette! I’ll be doing a quick review later this week hopefully, but it’s basically a great autumn and winter palette, as per the name, has a lot of metal-like colours. I’d see this being the perfect palette for Steampunk looks!

Thanks to work, I’ve moved away from the CBD for the next couple of months. This means no more mini adventures into the many clothing and beauty shops during my breaks Plus I lose about 2-3hrs a day during the week since the commute is longer; the hours are generally longer so early to bed and early to rise etc. Not to mention all the weekend work Still it’s not permanent so I’ll survive. And my wallet and credit card seem to be very grateful!
It does however make taking photos even harder. As you may or may not know, it was already tough because the only time I could do shoots was during the day aka weekend, since by the time I arrived home on weekends, the sun had completely set (and I have yet to find a good indoor lighting area, still a WIP). Now that I have to work weekends as well, doesn’t get much easier. Still, I will persist and do the best I can. I love costumes and makeup far too much to just let it slide.
In fact, yesterday I obtained a couple of new products I can’t wait to try out and hopefully review I’ve seen them popping up in my fashion magazines…. yes advertising works shamefully well on me I feel so sorry for my parents for the kind of demanding child I must have been!
I’ve got a deliciously gothic dress / look I want to put together for a shoot soon! Just need to figure out how to make fake blood, hmm… Any ideas are welcome! <3

- Applies smoothly
- Blends like a dream
- Has SPF 20
- Skin appears naturally smoother and clearer
- Can start to feel a little oily after a while
- Doesn’t mix well with face powder
Where: Any Laura Mercier counter (Myer or David Jones), or StrawberryNET or Kiss and Makeup
Price: $76AU at Laura Mercier counters, but substantially less on-line.
My favourite tinted moisturiser! Took me a while to find it too. Mainly because the frightening price point, but in this case you do get what you pay for. It’s great for a natural look, it softens all mild to medium imperfections (in my case the light freckles I have on my cheeks become almost invisible). The Oil-free version may be a bit drying for those with dry skin (I personally have oily skin), so use your common sense when choosing between Oil or Oil-free. Great for mildly lightening your dark circles too, and the best part is that it contains SPF 20
I applied this with my fingers, as it says so on the packaging. Just pump out a bit on the back of your hand to warm it up for easier application. You can use a brush if you want, but I find too much of the product gets caught in my bristles, and given how expensive this is I want it to last me a very long time. If I do use it, I only apply it under my eyes, cheeks and nose, not my whole face. Obviously if you want stronger coverage, I’d go for a foundation instead.
I would however avoid putting powder over your face after application, even if you do find it to be too shiny (use blotting paper instead), I find the powder can become a little cakey, nothing overly noticeable, except when I make an angry face and you see the powder crack at my wrinkles >_O I like my makeup to appear flawless when looking into a magnified mirror!
For those who are curious, my perfect shade is a mixture of Nude and Porcelain.

Start of last year my friend Shi Tenshi put together a Disney Princess group for Melbourne’s Supanova, in which I went as Snow White. Later that year she decided to do a Disney Villian group, in which I was to be Snow White’s Evil Step-mother! Unfortunately due to work I never managed to finish the costume (though I now have metres upon metres of beautiful purple silk collecting dust).
Figured either way I’d give her makeup a shot, I don’t have the sharpest of features, so I reckon a lot more contouring would have helped enhance the over all “evil” feel, but I still think I look pretty annoyed one way of another hehe.
