I have long been a massive fan of the Tom Ford Eye Shadow Quads, the quality of their matte shades easily rivals Le Metier de Beaute! So you can understand both my initial excitement and subsequent disappointment when I discovered they were releasing two more palettes for their Fall 2012 collection.
Excitement because more palettes! And not to mention a name like “Enchanted” is just calling for me. But disappointment when I soon discovered the quality for these palettes don’t come close to the quality of the palettes from their permanent line.

Firstly the design is different, there is a little “TF” symbol carved into the shadow. Secondly the pigmentation is not as strong, it takes a few good swipes to build the colour it up. Which is disappointing because this was one of the biggest selling points for me and key reasons why I love Tom Ford Eye Shadow Quads. The formula itself seems different too, like it’s a slightly more “baked” powder rather than pressed?

Don’t get me wrong, these aren’t actually bad palettes per say, but they don’t live up to the quality of the permanent collection and given the price point I don’t really see the need to splash out on these.
A lovely palette I will admit, but if you’re looking for a great high end palette and need to be picky, go take a look at their permanent range which I highly recommend! They are amazing~ This one however, I’d give it a miss unless you happen to love the colour selection.

You can purchase this online for $75US or $100AU at David Jones.

a friend brought me to the Tom ford counter the other day and I simply could not decide what looked the best. the permanent collection seems like a good place to start

For $100, I need way more pigmentation than that. I will be checking out the permanent range instead, or picking up another lovely Lip Mist.
