As you are reading this, I will be up at the Sunshine Coast enjoying a few days away from the office, hopefully relaxing! The last few months have been insanity at work, so a few solid days away is just what the doctor ordered Though knowing me, it is likely I will spend most of it working on Fables, as I do with any spare time I can get!
If you want to keep up with me during my time off, then be sure to following me on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook! I’ll also hopefully be vlogging each day just like I did with Once Upon a December, except now… it’s really more like Once Upon a Day So please do subscribe if you’d like to catch those videos
Hope you guys in Australia are having an amazing Easter weekend
Just like last year, I wanted to take some time to reflect on the year that will soon be over, and contemplate the year ahead.
Organisation – I’m going to consider this resolution more like a marathon than a sprint. I’ve gradually gotten better at this during certain periods (aka when work isn’t stressing me out).
Don’t let the negativity get to me – Happy to confirm this has gotten a lot better. I’ve cut out people from my life who only gave me negative energy and became a lot more resilient when it comes to the negativity both at work and online.
Lifestyle Blogging – Errr, not quite there yet. Can I make this one of this year’s resolutions?
Photography – See above.
Write and read more – Well, I did download a couple of half read books on my Kindle, so getting there ever so slowly. I should probably set a goal of reading a set number of books before the year is out.
Go strong, or go home – Yes! But unfortunately this way of thinking did leave me with a couple of minor health issues.
Focus – Often I found myself lacking direction this year, not because there was none, but because my focus constantly shifted to non productive areas. I’ve actually got a blog post planned for this, I want to create a focus board and zone into the goals I’ve set myself this year.
Lifestyle Blogging – I said it last year and failed, so I’m going to try and meet it this year. My life isn’t just about beauty products, I love fashion, I love social media, gadgets, computers, video games, cosplay, food and many other topics in life. I want my blog to be a reflection of my interests and hobbies.
Be patient, Seek balance – Probably not as evident on the blog, but off line I’ve felt myself becoming a lot more frustrated with life. I’ve always been impatient with my accomplishments in life, I never feel I’ve done enough at any point in my life, and my reaction has been pretty negative. Both ranging from zoning out and wasting my time being unproductive, or becoming so intense on what I was currently working on that I ended up developing health issues for myself. My goal is to work on finding a productive medium.
Shop Your Stash / Resourceful Purchasing – Like most people, I waste far too much money and resources on unnecessary things. So with regards to makeup and general purchases, I’ve decided to only purchase if I already have plans to feature it on my YT channel or blog (with regards to gadgets, makeups etc) otherwise I’ll make sure to use what I currently have.
Exercise – Okay, so every resolution list needs a typical resolution that simply won’t be met. I’d like to start by doing something simple 3 times a week and hopefully work up to something maintainable. The only reason is to give my mind better clarify and improve my health. Back in Uni I used to do an intense fitness routine every morning and my mind was as sharp as a knife then, if I plan to meet the first resolution then I suspect I’d need to meet this one first.
I also want to thank you all for the incredible support both on the blog and on youtube. I’ve been so touched and overwhelmed and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate each and everyone of you
I know most of you are away with friends and family, celebrating the holiday season! But I wanted to jump in quickly to wish you all a very Merry Christmas / Happy Holiday! Thank you eternally for the amazing support and love you all I can’t tell you how much I appreciate each and everyone of you and I hope you guys are enjoying yourselves!
Today is my birthday! And I thought for a change I’d blog about whatever came to mind in the moment!
I think as I get older, the realisation that time truly is finite become more prominent. Days, weeks, months and then another year goes by, and I always perform an inventory check on what has changed since the last time I blew those candles out.
Contemplating over one’s accomplishments in life I assume is a pretty popular practice, especially during birthdays. My first thoughts always drift to the things I wish were different, not only tangible aspects, but rather mental, emotional and physiological.
But I think it’s also important to recognise and acknowledge the positive achievements. If you’re going through less than perfect times then viewing your world with rose colours glasses won’t be the easiest of tasks. However I really do believe those are the most important times to view your life in a more optimistic light.
So while there is much in life I wish I could change (and I’ll likely flesh these out further closer to the end of the year with my resolutions), there is one shining positive in my life. And that’s you guys.
I want to thank each and everyone of you for the incredible support and love you have shown me! Running my blog and my channel has really been an incredible experience and made just that whole lot more amazing because of you all.
Ah! December is here, last month of the year and often my favourite! This month not only USUALLY (not always) is the slackest of the year, but it contains both my adorable niece’s, mine and my dad’s birthday (so lots of good food and company), not to mention Christmas and New Years, which usually results in some nice time off work (3 more weeks of work till I get a week off to relax)
So I thought what better way to celebrate the month, whilst helping me with my talking to the camera fears than to vlog everyday in December, right up until the new year I’m calling this series “Once Upon a December”, but if I do decide to vlog for a whole day next year, the official series will be called “Once Upon a Day”, rather inline with my “Fables” theme
All videos will be going up on my vlog / second channel called Tell Me Your Fable, so please head over there to watch! If you enjoy, please subscribe~ I really appreciate all the support You’ll be seeing a lot more of me in December
I think I’m still trying to get used to the fact that I’m at home and don’t need to pack and get ready to catch a flight to Sydney. To ease back to home life I’ve instead been spending a great deal of time just tidying up my rooms at home, organising myself and basically trying to simplify my life as best I can.
If travelling has taught me anything is that you really can live life with very little. And my life is just filled with a lot of unnecessary things, made worse by the fact that I am a beauty blogger.
So with the support of friends, I’ve made the decision to sell off anything I don’t need, including clothes, makeup, equipment, basically anything I don’t actively use will get sold. And I’ll use the money to reinvest into the blog aka continue purchasing the latest makeup collections, try new products, once reviewed the cycle continues, I sell off what I don’t need.
I think this new project which I’ve entitled “Simplify” will really help clear my mind (and my space), help reduce my anxiety and mostly free me from the grasp of having to own so much stuff and instead invest in quality over quantity.
First step was clearing out a bunch of makeup I no longer used, most of which I will not be selling directly on the blog. And as I’m not personally comfortable dealing with selling thing personally (thanks to a heap of bad experiences) I’ve enlisted the help of friends to help with the process. Hopefully it’ll leave me with more time to focus on blogging, working and enjoying life
Oh and before I go, thought I’d let you know I’ve uploaded a new makeup video dedicated to Italy
Morning lovelies, I’m back~~ Actually I’ve been back for a couple of days now, but honestly have felt like a bit of a train wreck. I came down with a persistent cough a day before my 22 hr flight back to Melbourne, which was compounded by some terrible jetlag and then only got worse as it worked itself into a cold. The worst part is going to bed each night, thanks to my coughing I’m finding the only way I can get sleep is using sleeping pills.
So that’s not great, but being back home in my own bed is. (keeping in mind I haven’t slept in my own bed for more than a few nights for four months now) Europe was pretty amazing and I have a ton of videos and posts that need to be edited and written for you all. Expect them to all come out quite randomly. I’m still not feeling the best and given I will be returning to work next week I just want to focus on getting better so I’m not a total mess next week.
My next assignment is confirmed in Melbourne for at least 7 weeks, which is great news! It means I can finally get back into filming my Book of Fables chapters, blogging more consistently and generally just feeling more at home, spending quality time with my family and friends etc.
Hope you all are doing well, and expect the regular posting to start up against very soon Missed you all! <3
Toby’s pose pretty much 95% of the trip in Europe.
This video was filmed quite a while ago (and twice actually, that’s how crap I am at doing these sorts of videos!). I had just come back from Inverloch which I think was around the end of January. I knew going up I wanted to film a whole bunch of Book of Fables Chapters (all of which are currently live on my channel now!), but I didn’t get a chance to plan any of them in advanced like I usually do because I didn’t know what Inverloch was going to be like Plus we had more important things to pack like food, so I had to make sure I didn’t bring my entire collection, whilst still making sure I was able to cover as wide a range of looks as I could.
You’ll notice the photo above is a bit different, that’s because as I said before I’d filmed this video twice so that’s a screenshot from the first take Also my brushes were stored in a different bag
Hopefully you find the video helpful, if not at least entertaining!
