July Empties

Wow, July is already over? We’re inching closer and closer to the end of the year! There are going to be some changes to the blog next month, just for one month! All shall be announced tomorrow :) But for today, let’s get on to the empties, and I’ve been through a lot this month!

Clinqiue Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturiser
This is my 3rd tube of this now? I used to hate the smell for this, but have really gotten used to it~ I can’t say I notice huge changes in my skin, which is both good and not as good. I’m quite happy with my skin as it is and am just looking for product to maintain and maybe make it better? I love that it’s a tube!

Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream
This was okay, not the best out there, but Clinique keeps throwing these into their GWP and so I have another 2-3 to work my way through. It’s good enough for me to want to finish using it up, but not good enough for me to buy with my own money.

Palmer’s Daily Facial Lotion
You can read my review on this here~

Shiseido Pureness Foaming Cleanser
A huge favourite of mine, you can read my review on this here! Loves it, where’s my next bottle!?

Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner in Black
Grrr, I wanted to love this, but I found it wasn’t as pigmented as true liquid liners and it dried up way too fast for me :( You can read my review here.

Revlon CustomEyes Mascara
Meh, didn’t like this, gave so-so results and dried up too fast, pass! Read my review here.

Lancome Hypnose Drama
LOVE this, my favourite HG mascara, but oh so expensive :( I’ll be sure to pick many of these up next time I pass through duty free <3 :) Read my review here~

Book of Fables: Chapter 64 – Black Valentine

July 8th, 2011 § 12 comments § permalink

Celina Fables in Fashion Book of Fables

I think we all know how amazing some of the Illamasqua makeup campaigns are, ever since I first saw their Valentine promotional images I knew I wanted to try it one day. I think I managed to get close, but the job wasn’t quite as refined and neat as the pros. Still, each attempt is another step towards becoming a better artist :)

I painted and cut the nails myself, and completely painted over my rose (same one used in my Alone tutorial). These were not every day friendly nails mind you, I’m pretty sure I accidently poked / scratched / stabbed myself more than I’d like to admit!

The irony that despite this look being inspired by Illamasqua, I haven’t used a single Illamasqua product, I know the irony only just hit me after filming. Unfortunately Illamasqua can prove pricy so I don’t own that many, but their products are truly amazing :)

Either way, hope you enjoy the look!

Book of Fables: Chapter 63 – Shia

Celina Fables in Fashion Book of Fables

Another cosplay chapter! :D Some of my favourite chapters, introducing the lovely Shia from Pita-ten <3 The demon who can't seem to be bad :( You can view the entire costume and gallery on Extreme Motion :)

Makeup wise, this look is pretty simple, the circle lenses really do pull the look together :) And yes, I totally wanted to kick myself every time I pulled a “I’m cute, love me” pose! But I had a blast, it is cosplay after all~ And I’m doing my best to try and get more “into character” with each chapter too! Can’t imagine what voice I’ll have to use when I do a horror related look? hehe.

Book of Fables: Chapter 62 – Disney Snow White

I grew up watching Disney, and loved all the Disney princesses~ My favourite is probably Belle from Beauty and the Beast, but for cosplay purposes I thought I suited Snow White much better :) If you would like to view the entire costume I made for my Snow White cosplay, please view the gallery here.

I absolutely loved cosplaying Snow White :) I’d love to do more princesses in the future, enjoy the tutorial :)

Book of Fables: Chapter 61 – On the Hunt

June 17th, 2011 § 13 comments § permalink

Celina Fables in Fashion Book of Fables

I must have short term memory, because I always want to shoot up in the Dandenong, and constantly look forward to it…. until I get there and FIND A LEECH ON MY LEG!

I really need to schedule all my “forest” related projects to Spring and Summer, because not only was I attacked by bugs, I was absolutely freezing! :( Serves me right to be prancing around the forest in sleeveless clothes during winter. (Though now I’m thinking of a shoot I’d like to try during winter on the beach….wow, I must really hate myself)

That aside, I’m really glad I managed to get this video done. I think I created the makeup more to suit the theme, rather than building a theme around the makeup, which is what I usually do. I’ve always wanted to do a simple “Rambo” inspired sort of look, short of rubbing dirt on to my face I think I managed pretty well lol!

Favourite aspect was just filming the intro and outro for this tutorial, so be sure to check those out :)

Book of Fables: Chapter 59 – Alone

June 3rd, 2011 § 42 comments § permalink

Celina Fables in Fashion Book of Fables

There have been days in my life when you truly do feel alone. It can be for any number of reasons, but like most people, I’ve experienced loss in my life, and it has made me question my own mortality (it was actually one of the driving factors towards starting this blog) and it makes you realise what is truly important at the end of the day.

Videos have become a way to really express the types of emotions I go through, and this video is reflective of those tougher times.

I found a very similar look online, so I take no credit behind the creativity. It’s been a concept I’ve wanted to try for ages, the initial plan was to simply powder over / airbrush actual lace on my face, but I wanted it to be a bigger challenge. I wanted to push my skills, whilst not perfect I think I was able to convey the message relatively well :)

I hope you enjoy the look and video as much as I did making it :)

Lancôme Juicy Tube – Exotic Bomb by Yayoi Kusama Swatches and Photos

Lancôme Juicy Tube - Exotic Bomb by Yayoi Kusama

I’m sure you’ve all heard of Lancôme’s Juicy Tubes, known as their lip gloss / balm range, which is designed to give your lips a pop of sheer colour whilst keeping them moisturised and hydrated. I personally own three, my favourite being Melon :9 But I have to say that Peche and Fraise both make a close second. When Lancôme kindly sent me Exotic Bomb I was extremely excited, especially when I pulled the tube out of the box and saw the amazingly cute design!

Lancôme Juicy Tube - Exotic Bomb by Yayoi Kusama

How cute right? The design for all the tubes (there are 6 total, each with a different design) are by Yayoi Kusama, a very popular Japanese artist. This particular collection is limited edition. Exotic Bomb is actually similar in scent and appearance to Fraise in the tube, but when applied is quite a bit more pigmented. The micro shimmers are gorgeous, but you can’t feel them on your lips, the best part~ :D

If you are a newbie to the Lancôme Juicy Tube range, I think the most important thing to note is that these glosses have a fruity scent respective to their flavour, nothing overpowering, but I would certainly try these out in person to test your tolerance if you are sensitive. I do find them to be hydrating and give great shine and colour, but they can prove to be very sticky. So keep your hair out of your face if you intend to use these (as you should when using any gloss to be honest)

Lancôme Juicy Tube - Exotic Bomb by Yayoi Kusama

The collection contains 6 shades / flavours all together, Crazy Yuzu, Vigorous Fruit, Exotic Bomb, Yoga Vanilla, Baba Jasmine and Peace & Flowers, they come out on the 10th of July, 2011 at $29 each, so plenty of time to save up :) I can’t wait to check out of the rest of the collection :D
