This look was taken / inspired from Ke$ha’s “We R Who We R” music video. When I saw the blue (my favourite colour), the glitter and how “hard edge” the look was, it instantly landed on my list of looks to do. It is a bit of a “tired” look, I really struggled to make myself appear awake, I swear I’m not sleepy in these photos!
Also the look is intentionally “dirty”, it is Ke$ha after all
Unfortunately the blue glitter I used was not the correct shade
Can’t believe how hard it is to find a solid saturated blue eye glitter, luckily after a bit of digging I found some NYX cream glitters that were least blue~ Hope you enjoy the look!

Face
Prime your face, apply liquid foundation 1-2 shades darker than your current shade and then set with a bronzer.
Cheeks
Add additional bronzer to your cheeks, then lightly pat on some black eye shadow. Smudge it out with your fingers, we want a dirty look here. Dust on some shimmering white highlighter to your cheek bones. Contour and highlight your nose.
Eyes
Prime your eyes, then pat on some blue pigment, bring into your crease and then wing out almost all the way to your hair line. Apply some to your lower lash line too. Take a light blue eye shadow and soften the edges of the pigment. Take a black shadow and apply to the outer corner of your eyes. Line your upper lash line with a black gel liner.

Take some silver glitter and apply to the inner corner of your eyes, then apply a blue glitter under your eyes as seen in the photos.
Curl your lashes, add mascara and then apply your false lashes.
Fill in and extend your brows with a black eye shadow. Dust a tiny bit of blue eye shadow to your brows.
Lips
Apply any lip balm to prevent your lips from becoming too dry. Then apply the blue pigment all over the lips, followed by a blue glitter and silver glitter.

So this was my application into Australia’s Next Top Super Hero…. kidding! You know I adore vibrant strong colours, so as you can tell I let my creativity go wild with this look.
I think one change I would do is have the black fade into my forehead instead of the abrupt sharp line. I think doing so would make it pop even more, always learning
Hope you enjoy the photos!

How to reproduce:
Face
Using your fingers, apply one pump of MAC Prep and Prime all over your face, not including the eyelids. Then with a foundation brush apply Revlon’s Colorstay in Buff all over your face, jaw line and neck.
Cheeks
Find the hollows of your cheeks and liberally apply MAC’s Powder Blush in Azalea. Be liberal, we want the colour to really pop! Then use Canmake’s Highlighter in 01 on all your high points.
Eyes
To outline the shapes for my eyes I used sticky tape, the type of tape you use is vital. You don’t want to use masking tape, or anything too sticky that could pull at your skin. I’m not sure what my tape is called, but it’s that cloudy stuff we use at work to conceal page lines when photocopying multiple documents together. It’s not very sticky, this means that despite putting it over my foundation, hardly any came off once I removed the tape.
After you’ve applied the tape, prime your eyelids with NYX’s Eyeshadow Base in Pearl. Now the fun begins, you will need pigments for this. I tried using powder eyeshadows at first with wet brushes and the colour was not pigmented enough.
First, I applied Lime Crime’s Magic Dust in Pampadour starting from under my eyes and working my way up. I made sure to fade out the colour once it past my eye brows. Next take MAC’s Eyeshadow in Goldmine (really any gold shadow will do) and apply it all over the lid, brow bone and inner corner of your eye. Apply MAC’s Contrast in your crease for added depth. Then apply NYX’s Ultra Pearl Mania in Black Pearl starting from the top along your forehead and blend down into the blue. Be patient, this step is just a matter of blending blending blending!
Once you’re happy with your mask, the fun part! Peel off the tape
I found the mask to be very overpowering, which ended up “drowning” out my eyes. So if you have smaller eyes, it’s especially important to line them. I used MAC’s Fluidline in Blacktrack. Be generous, I made sure to line my upper lash line and waterline relatively thick and winged it out on the outer corner.
Next, curl your lashes and apply 2 coats of L’Oreal Extra Volume Collagene in Black. Feel free to use false lashes here, I decided to go without.
Lips
The lips are pretty simple, apply MAC’s Dazzle Lipstick in Troublemaker straight from the tube, and then MAC’s Superglass in Superflash!

You always want what you can’t have, and what I’d love right now is a bit of sunshine and warmth. Winter in Australia (well Melbourne at least) means no snow, but a lot of icy cold winds and rain. Whilst I love wrapping myself in lots of layers, I’ll admit that I find it hard to really move around when I’m sporting about 5 layers of clothing.
So I decided to throw together a bit of a sunset look, using no liner on my upper lid gives my eyes a much softer look. Despite the weather, the Winter sun is beautiful. Especially through my bedroom window, at around 3-4pm the sun rays pierce through the clouds and bathe my room in a beautiful rich glow.

This look feels very rocker-chick to me, what with the hair style and blue star. After shooting the look, I couldn’t bring myself to remove the makeup till the end of the day! It just took so much time to draw the star on my face, but I’ll admit to getting a couple of stares when I left the house to pick up some dinner hehe.
Generally, I can’t see myself ever finding a suitable situation to wear this out, but I do love to experiment and go wild in the comfort of my own home all in the name of art! Certainly one of my less subtle looks

I’m loving this look, I’m not sure where I could wear it, but I love how virbate the colours are! And I have to thank pigments for that, unless I apply my eyeshadows wet, I can never get the colours to be this stand out.
My face powder did have quite a bit of shine in it too, something in retrospect I probably would avoid in the future. I’d rather got more matte, and then selectively highlight later. In some of the photos I feel like my entire face is glowing, not exactly the image I was going for.
As for the name, I came up with the idea when I was thinking of the shell of beetles (and you can blame my current addiction to StarCraft 2 for that), how there sometimes is a rainbow effect under certain lights. As much as I hate insects, I think the pattern is really beautiful.
