If you live in Australia, then hope you are enjoying your long weekend~ I figured most people will either be on holiday or at least enjoying their break away from their computer (except for me because let’s face it, I’m a bit of a nerd / geek), so I decided to bring in a pretty simple look I’ve had in mind for a while.
CLAMP are a group of talented women who have written some amazing Japanese series such as Card Captor Sakura, X/1999, Chobits and of course Magic Knight Rayearth. CLAMP’s illustration style for female eyes tend to be very similar throughout all their series. And so I wanted to present a simple tutorial with my interpretation of CLAMP female eyes.
I had actually recorded this as a video tutorial, but… I’m not 100% happy with the results, so I’ll hopefully re-shoot it again soon
Enjoy!

Face
Nothing too special here, prime, foundation, concealer and powder to set. When cosplaying, your makeup will be thicker than usual just because you will be photographed often and you want absolutely flawless skin
. Apply blush to the apples of your cheeks and a white shimmering powder to highlighter.
Eyes
First prime your lids, for my Shidou Hikaru photo shoots I went with red eye shadow, but for the sake of making this tutorial more general, I went with a neutral eye. You are trying to make your eyes appear larger than they are, so the most important thing to remember is where you set the crease. Even tho my eyes are large, I tend to apply the crease colour -just- above my actual crease. It’s not clear in the photos (hence why I want to reshoot the video), but it does make a big difference.
Next would be the liner, CLAMP eyes tend to go very heavy on the liner, but the exact same you want will depend on the character you are portraying. You want to make sure your liner is thicker and less winged out for younger characters, and wing it out a great deal more for vampy characters.
Curl your lashes and apply mascara and make sure to apply a good set of false lashes. I’d go as far to say that the majority of female characters, no matter what mangaka needs to wear false lashes.
Lips
The colour of your lips will again depend on your character, Hikaru is youthful hence why I settled for a sheer pink shade. But naturally vamper characters will require a darker colour.
I will do my best to make sure my video is as comprehensive as possible, please let me know if there is anything you would like to see in it!

I bet you know where I got this look from! MAC’s Jeanius range~ The minute I saw this look I knew I had to try it, I unfortunately forgot to glue the copper studs to my face for this look
(even though I had them!)
Still, it was such a fun look, quite a bit more masculine than my usual makeup, but was a great learning experience for my future cross-play plans

Face
Prime your face, then apply a foundation a few shades lighter than your natural skin tone and blend out. Apply a bit of this to your lips to remove any natural pink / rosy tones. Set with a loose powder and contour your features with a bronzer and highlighter.
Take a rosy pink cream blush, take a stippling brush and dab on the centre of your cheeks. Do NOT blend this out.
Eyes
Prime your lids and apply a soft muted brown eye shadow as a wash all over the lids up to the crease. Line your upper lash line with a liquid black liner, curl your lashes and apply a very thin coat of black mascara, you can even skip the mascara step if you want to.

Take a black eye shadow and fill in your brows.
Lines
The most time consuming, yet easiest bit! Take your liquid eye liner, make sure you choose an eye liner with a very sharp tip. And start drawing the dotted line as shown in the photos. One tip is just to draw one line first to get the basic shape down pat, THEN go for the second line. Go slow, don’t rush it and if you make a mistake, take a cotton tip with a bit of eye makeup remover and gently remove.

I’m sure you all know where the inspiration for this look came from, and if you don’t then clearly you haven’t heard of wonders that are Illamasqua‘s Toxic Nature collection~
The hardest part was ensuring both eyes were even, which still didn’t turn out exactly the way I had hoped, still not too bad for a first go. Please note that besides the first and last photo, I’ve digitally removed my eye brows to enhance the overall look~ I wanted to leave them in for some of the photos to give you an idea what it looks like naturally.
Hope you enjoy the look

Face
After primer and foundation, use a powder foundation to set as we want as much coverage as possible. Next sculpt your face, don’t be afraid to use a heavy hand here, we really want the look to be dramatic. Use a bright magenta powder blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend, and then top off with a highlighter. Contour your nose with the bronzer.
This particular step of most tutorials is essentially the same, but what differs is the amount of product and pressured used. Using this same technique you can get a variety of looks just but adding or reducing the amount of makeup used.
Eyes
Coat your eyebrows with wax to flatten them, then cover up with concealer so that it almost appears like you don’t have any brows.
Prime your lids, then take a black gel liner and start to outline the design around your eyes. For the black droplets under my eyes I used a liquid eyeliner for added intensity. Randomly draw tiny spots all over your cheeks.

Fill in the area on your lids with a purple gel liner for colour intensity then cover with purple eye shadow. Next fill in the area above with a pastel green cream pigment. Fill in your lower lash line with the same pigment. Take a dark brown eye shadow and draw in the brows. Add a tiny bit of hot pink eye shadow to the inner corner of your eyes.
Retrace the black gel liner with a black liquid eyeliner, and heavily line your upper lash line.
Curl your lashes and apply a thick coat of black mascara, then apply the longest biggest set of black false lashes you have.

Lips
Fill in your lips with a tan cream eye shadow, then take a brown gel liner and line your lips and create the shape you see in the photos. Take a touch of a pinkish red cream blush and dab it on the centre of your lips.
Photo below is with half the look and half without any makeup! I thought the contrast was really interesting

I contemplated whether to post this or not, on the one hand it’s a great product that I love, but on the other hand you can’t buy it anymore
I was given this during the original MBBE meet and have been in love with it ever since, especially when I learnt how inexpensive it was (like $10-$15AU?)

I decided to upload the swatches anyways, mainly because it’s still an awesome product and also to make you all aware to be on extra alert in December when the gift sets start rolling out!
And it’s a good excuse to highlight how awesome NP Set is as a brand

This set is a great alternative for Urban Decay’s Naked palette, though you will get less smokey colours and more earthy tones. Pigmentation is great, applies like a dream. NP Set is certainly a great inexpensive brand for palettes that are usually available at Target, David Jones and Napoleon Perdis stores, so if the standard Napoleon Perdis range is too expensive, check out NP Set!

I’m really getting into entering as many makeup competitions lately, not so much to win (though it would be nice) but it helps give me ideas and inspiration on what looks to do next. This is my next entry into Makeup Geek’s Valentine look~ It’s much more toned down than usual, to me it almost looks wearable, just need to lose the excess blush and hearts ;D

Face
Prime, foundation, conceal and set with powder as usual.
Cheeks
Apply a soft coral pink to the apples of your cheeks and extend all the way to your temples. Then take a more pigmented magenta pink blush and work that into your temples. Take a matte white highlighting powder and highlight all your high points.
Taking a red lipstick, draw 5 hearts along your cheek bone and place a heart shaped rhinestone at the end of one of the lines.
Eyes
Prime your lids, take a white eyeliner pencil to the inner corner of your eyes, inner lower lash line and brow bone. This is my way of “priming” for white eye shadow to make it stand out more. Then apply a white eye shadow over the white eye liner.
We’re going for a generic neutral brown eye hear, so take a medium brown to the lid and a dark brown to your crease, concentrating on the outer corner of your eye. Blend! Pat on a bit of white eye shadow to the center of your lids.

Line your upper lash line with a black gel liner, curl your lashes and apply mascara. Then apply your false eye lashes.
Define your eyebrows and extend them using a dark brown eye shadow. Then set them with a clear brow gel.
Lips
Line your lips with a red lipliner and fill in, I always fill in as this is my way of priming the lips but also ensuring the colour stays on for longer. Go over the liner with a red lipstick, then apply a pink link stick to the center of your lips for added dimension.

Face
Prime your face, apply your foundation all over, then concealer dark circles and any blemishes and finally powder to set!
Cheeks
Apply a soft matte pink blush to the apples of your cheeks, then a white silver based highlighter to your cheek bones, bridge of your nose and forehead.
Eyes
Use a black matte eye shadow to fill in and extend your brows.
Prime your lids then using a white eyeliner pencil, fill in your brow bone, inner corner of your eyes and the inner 1/3 of your lower lash line. Blend out slightly. Apply a medium to dark blue matte shadow into the crease and to the outer 2/3s of your lower lash line, next apply a white matte shadow to where the white eyeliner was applied and blend it into the blue shadow.
Take a black eye shadow and apply to the outer corner of your eyes, blend into the blue so there are no sharp edges. Using a black glitter gel, apply all over your lids then pat loose silver glitter over the top to intensify the glitter effect.
Use a black eye pencil to line your water line. Take a black gel liner to line your upper and lower lash line, and extend beyond the eye. Then take a silver glitter eyeliner and fill in the gap between the liner. Curl your lashes and apply two coats of any mascara.

Next using eyelash glue as adhesive, apply star shaped gems all over your temples, get creative! Take a silver pigment and dab over where ever you’ve applied the stars so that the skin underneath will shimmer.
Lips
Line and fill in your lips with a natural coloured lip pencil, then fill in your lips with any nude beige based lipstick.

Tomorrow is Christmas so a more festive look seemed appropriate
Bit sad that my lighting set seems to have washed out the look quite a bit (most likely due to the change in backdrop colour too) and so the 3 stars I’ve draw above my left eye aren’t painfully obvious
Still I do love my some glitter looks, not sure how I always managed to end up with more glitter on my desk and hands than face, but there you have it!
If you celebrate Christmas, hope you guys have a lovely Christmas, and if not, enjoy the public holidays and time away from work
Thank you so so much for reading, commenting, tweeting me etc~ Each interaction means so much to me and each day I feel so motivated to do better thanks to you! Thank you and stay safe <3

Face
Straight forward here, prime your face, foundation, concealer and then powder to set.
Cheeks
I applied a soft pink / brown blush to the hollows of my cheeks, then a shimmery white eye shadow to my cheekbones right up to my temples.
Eyes
Fill in your brows and extend them slightly with a dark gray eye shadow.
Prime the lids and crease with a silver cream shadow, then a shimmery white cream to the inner corner of my eyes and brow bone. Then apply a matching powder eye shadow colour to the cream colours. Using a gun metal eye shadow, apply to the crease and to the outer corner of your eye. Blend everything to remove any harsh lines.
Using a white eyeliner, draw stars just above your left eye brow and fill in the edges with a white eye shadow. Fill in the center with a silver eye shadow. Lightly pat silver glitter across all the stars.

Line your upper lash line with a dark gray gel liner creating a slight wing and smudge out. Now take a silver glitter liner and go over that gray line, making sure the silver line is slightly thinner. Extend the silver glitter liner beyond the eye and get creative! Create whatever designs you feel like! Dab some silver glitter over the silver liner to intensify the effect.
Curl your lashes and apply two coats of mascara and apply demi false lashes if needed.
Lips
Line your lips and fill in the outer corners of your lips, avoid filling in the direct center of your lips. Go over the lip pencil with a similar coloured lip stick, then fill in the center of your lips with a frost pink colour lipstick. Dab just a bit of silver glitter to the center of your lips.
