July Empties

Wow, July is already over? We’re inching closer and closer to the end of the year! There are going to be some changes to the blog next month, just for one month! All shall be announced tomorrow :) But for today, let’s get on to the empties, and I’ve been through a lot this month!

Clinqiue Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturiser
This is my 3rd tube of this now? I used to hate the smell for this, but have really gotten used to it~ I can’t say I notice huge changes in my skin, which is both good and not as good. I’m quite happy with my skin as it is and am just looking for product to maintain and maybe make it better? I love that it’s a tube!

Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream
This was okay, not the best out there, but Clinique keeps throwing these into their GWP and so I have another 2-3 to work my way through. It’s good enough for me to want to finish using it up, but not good enough for me to buy with my own money.

Palmer’s Daily Facial Lotion
You can read my review on this here~

Shiseido Pureness Foaming Cleanser
A huge favourite of mine, you can read my review on this here! Loves it, where’s my next bottle!?

Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner in Black
Grrr, I wanted to love this, but I found it wasn’t as pigmented as true liquid liners and it dried up way too fast for me :( You can read my review here.

Revlon CustomEyes Mascara
Meh, didn’t like this, gave so-so results and dried up too fast, pass! Read my review here.

Lancome Hypnose Drama
LOVE this, my favourite HG mascara, but oh so expensive :( I’ll be sure to pick many of these up next time I pass through duty free <3 :) Read my review here~

If there is one beauty product I go through like bread it’s mascaras, in fact I have a bit of a backlog of mascaras I need to test out and review! Anyways, on to the review.

CustomEyes was released a few months ago, I spotted it at Priceline and picked it up when a special ran (I always try my best to buy everything on special at Priceline given how often they run). As for the mascara, it’s average.

The mascara wand comes in two settings by twisting the handle, Length & Drama and Length & Definition, the brush changes it’s appearance. But as you can see in the images above, there isn’t a huge difference between the two, atleast not from what I can tell.

Generally, the mascara gives pretty good length and volume on both settings and I don’t experience much if any smudging throughout the day. However I’ve had mascaras that give better length and volume, plus I found that this particular tube dried up pretty fast :( What was strange is that the formula still seemed okay, but the brush + application felt very dry and took a few dips to get enough product on my lashes.

Take it or leave it, but I certainly will be moving on and this isn’t a mascara I’d highly recommend. It’s still a good mascara, but I know you can get better for a lower price.

Book of Fables: Chapter 63 – Shia

Another cosplay chapter! :D Some of my favourite chapters, introducing the lovely Shia from Pita-ten <3 The demon who can't seem to be bad :( You can view the entire costume and gallery on Extreme Motion :)

Makeup wise, this look is pretty simple, the circle lenses really do pull the look together :) And yes, I totally wanted to kick myself every time I pulled a “I’m cute, love me” pose! But I had a blast, it is cosplay after all~ And I’m doing my best to try and get more “into character” with each chapter too! Can’t imagine what voice I’ll have to use when I do a horror related look? hehe.

Book of Fables: Chapter 62 – Disney Snow White

I grew up watching Disney, and loved all the Disney princesses~ My favourite is probably Belle from Beauty and the Beast, but for cosplay purposes I thought I suited Snow White much better :) If you would like to view the entire costume I made for my Snow White cosplay, please view the gallery here.

I absolutely loved cosplaying Snow White :) I’d love to do more princesses in the future, enjoy the tutorial :)

Book of Fables: Chapter 61 – On the Hunt

June 17th, 2011 § 13 comments § permalink

Celina Fables in Fashion Book of Fables

I must have short term memory, because I always want to shoot up in the Dandenong, and constantly look forward to it…. until I get there and FIND A LEECH ON MY LEG!

I really need to schedule all my “forest” related projects to Spring and Summer, because not only was I attacked by bugs, I was absolutely freezing! :( Serves me right to be prancing around the forest in sleeveless clothes during winter. (Though now I’m thinking of a shoot I’d like to try during winter on the beach….wow, I must really hate myself)

That aside, I’m really glad I managed to get this video done. I think I created the makeup more to suit the theme, rather than building a theme around the makeup, which is what I usually do. I’ve always wanted to do a simple “Rambo” inspired sort of look, short of rubbing dirt on to my face I think I managed pretty well lol!

Favourite aspect was just filming the intro and outro for this tutorial, so be sure to check those out :)

Book of Fables: Chapter 58 – Limitless (5 Product Challenge)

May 27th, 2011 § 7 comments § permalink

Celina Fables in Fashion Book of Fables

A little while ago my HT aka Haul Twin aka Jess from Miss J Shopaholic did a video on doing her makeup using only 5 products. Inspired, I decided to take the idea and make it my own. I wanted to do two looks, something light and wearable and something far more dramatic to illustrate how far you can stretch a few products.

You’ll notice 6 products listed below (instead of 5) because during the second taping I decided to try a red lipstick instead of the creme blush, even tho I accidentally said I used the exact same products for both looks! My mistake :( Still, each look only used a total of 5 products!

Admittedly this particular chapter gave me a bit of a headache, I felt painfully limited by only using 5 products and I actually taped the tutorial twice, did a number of shoots etc. And honestly I’m still not happy with this look nor the video, but I decided that there was only so much time I could spend dwelling over the video and photos and just decided to post what I had and move on. Not my best work, but it’ll do :) Hope you enjoy either way :)

And why Limitless? Because the only limits in life are the ones we set for ourselves :)

Book of Fables: Chapter 57 – Ace of Hearts

May 20th, 2011 § 17 comments § permalink

Book of Fables Lookbook Look Book Celina

Looks don’t always have to be serious, this time I wanted to shoot for something quirky and fun! I actually didn’t design this look, I found it completely by accident on the internet, so I don’t claim credit for the design! The honour goes to some other talented individual :)

I’ve made a slight change to this chapter, at the request of my readers I’ve decided include a section on what tools I used to create my looks, aka brushes. Not sure if you will find it useful, let me know if you do / don’t~

I also suspect my videos will continue to experience some level of tweaking until I’ve settled into a style that suits me completely (and then I’ll probably change my mind anyways). I see my videos as organic, they will continue to evolve with me as my own abilities do, I took a lot of the feedback into consideration and will over time try and address each one where I see fit :) For starters I’ve added the product name in the video each time they appear (so long as it is the first time). Hopefully you will find that more handy :)

And I will try my best to translate the tutorials into video from now on, but please understand that making videos (especially the way I do them, excessive cutting, voice over, music etc) takes much longer than just shooting some photos so if I miss a week here or there, go easy on me :) Enjoy!
