Looks don’t always have to be serious, this time I wanted to shoot for something quirky and fun! I actually didn’t design this look, I found it completely by accident on the internet, so I don’t claim credit for the design! The honour goes to some other talented individual
I’ve made a slight change to this chapter, at the request of my readers I’ve decided include a section on what tools I used to create my looks, aka brushes. Not sure if you will find it useful, let me know if you do / don’t~
I also suspect my videos will continue to experience some level of tweaking until I’ve settled into a style that suits me completely (and then I’ll probably change my mind anyways). I see my videos as organic, they will continue to evolve with me as my own abilities do, I took a lot of the feedback into consideration and will over time try and address each one where I see fit For starters I’ve added the product name in the video each time they appear (so long as it is the first time). Hopefully you will find that more handy
And I will try my best to translate the tutorials into video from now on, but please understand that making videos (especially the way I do them, excessive cutting, voice over, music etc) takes much longer than just shooting some photos so if I miss a week here or there, go easy on me Enjoy!

Recently whilst browsing through Priceline (as you do) I came across a bunch of new palettes released by Savvy by DB, an affordable Australian brand (it’s not just me right… what’s with the American spelling for an Aussie brand!?) that distributes solely out of Priceline.
They had a new range of eyeshadow only palettes and then this one which had both eye shadows and blush, at only $7.95AU a pop I couldn’t resist and picked up almost one of each (minus one which I knew I wouldn’t use). So expect future reviews on them! (one of the palettes was just neutral eyeshadows too! My current obsession :3)
I was pleasantly surprised by these palettes, I wasn’t expecting much given the price. In fact the last time I spent this amount on cheap eyeshadows were very powdery and just smelt of talc Admittedly whilst some of the shadows were a bit powdery when swatching with my fingers, when used with a brush they were much better. And I didn’t detect any “talc” smell, which is a big plus for me. Eye shadows that smell of talc or are too powdery are a sure sign that the product is low quality.
The shadows applied smoothly with a brush over my eyes (I almost never use the applicators provided), I think the colours had very good pigmentation, not amazing but much better than many shadows that have crossed my path and can’t imagine anyone having any real issues using them.
My only gripe would be the blushes, they are placed really very close to the eyeshadows, so when I went in with my brush to pick up some of the product it also picked up powder from the eyeshadows :/ Which I found pretty annoying, so I had to be extra careful. And a mirror, even a small one would make this palette very travel friendly.
The blushes on their own however were pretty decent, they are pretty pigmented so only just dip your brush in gently else you run the risk of picking up too much product and looking like a clown
Not going to deny that this is a pretty good buy! I’d recommend them to people wanting to build their makeup collection or want to try new colours without breaking the bank.
Even days after shooting this look I’m still finding bits of glitter everywhere! It’s like sand, others who’ve used glitter in looks will understand my pain. Still, I’ve been wanting to do something like this look for the longest time, I think it could have used a bit more work (fix the hair, more glitter on the jawline), but it isn’t too bad for a first try. I wanted to illustrate the idea of diamond trickling down the side of my face.
I made the silver ball myself, one of my props Unfortunately the glue I used ate away at the gems so it isn’t as shiny as I had originally hoped It started as a foam ball which I covered in foil and then glued about 4 packs worth of gems on :/ Tres expensive, but totally worth it for Book of Fables Enjoy!

Face
Prime, apply foundation, concealer and powder to set. It’s always important to contour the face before you apply any additional detail, to get a solid base. So start by applying bronzer to the temples, hollows of the cheeks and jawline. Apply blush to your cheek bones, then take a highlighter to the high points of your face.
Eyes
Prime your lids and apply a white eyeliner to the inner corner of your eyes and brown bone. Then apply a light tanned eye shadow powder all over the lid up to the brow bone, take a medium taupe and apply to your crease. Finally take a dark silver shade and apply to the outer corner of your eyes, then take a shimmery white powder to the inner corner of your eyes and brow bone (over the areas you applied the white eyeliner).
Line your upper lash line with a black liquid liner, then your waterline with a black eyeliner pencil. Curl your lashes and apply mascara to your top and bottom lashes.
The fun part! Any areas you want the place silver glitter that is not your eye area, spray Fix+ then dab on the silver glitter. For the eye area, take a glitter gel made for eyes and apply, then dab the silver glitter over it. Take some iridescent glitter and place it over the silver on any of your high points. Dab small amounts of eye lash glue then place the gems over.
Lips
Line and fill in your lips with a lip pencil, then coat your lips with a mauve rose lip colour. Then apply a shimmery beige lip colour to the center of your lips.
A couple of weeks ago I went out to The Meat & Wine Co for dinner (fantastic food btw :9) and was inspired to do a bohemian look when I saw their beaded curtains with the orange night lights filtering through. So I went home, pulled out all the beads I had in storage and created my own “beaded curtains”, and there you have it!
Special thanks to Toby for taking the photos for me, I was holding reflectors in both hands during the entire shoot, and it took a bit of time to figure out how to set up the background, lights etc! It was both frustrating and rewarding <3
Hope you enjoy the look, I'm really enjoying stepping up the Book of Fables to a new level and am already hard at work creating a bunch of props for future shoots, but please don't expect them for every chapter! I work both a full-time and part-time job so I don't always have the time
OH! And before I forget, today is the last day to enter Fables in Fashion’s First Giveaway! Finishes at 5pm, Melbourne, Australia time! So be sure to enter if you would like to win some cool prizes, I’ll be throwing in a few other samples for the winner
Face
Prime, apply foundation, concealer and powder to set. I wanted my skin to appear more “warm” and glowy, so I applied a bronzer to my temples and jawline, applied blush to my cheek bones and a highlighter to the cheeks, bridge of my nose and forehead.
Eyes
Prime your lids, then take a light tan shadow and apply all over the lid, up to the brow bone, inner 1/3 of the lower lash line and inner corner of the eye. Take a medium brown and apply directly on to the eyelids, pat down the colour to intensify it and only blend out the edge closest to the crease.
Take a deep brown and apply to the 2/3 outer parts of the crease and the outer corner. Blend up towards your brow bone and wing it out. Take a brown eyeliner and line your upper lash line and follow the shape of your winged eyeshadow. Next take a black eye liner and line your water line.
Take a teal coloured eye liner and apply directly on to the lower lash line, really pack on the colour, you can set it with a teal eye shadow powder if you lack lower lashes to help keep the colour in place (I should have done this!)
Fill in and extend your brows with the deep brown eye shadow. Curl your lashes and apply black mascara.
Lips
Line and fill in your lips with a muted pink lip liner and coat with an electric pink / red lipstick.
A little while back Siera asked whether I could do her makeup for a shoot she was planning for a character created by the artist Sylvia Ji. I wanted to test out the makeup on myself first to get a feel for the look, this is my second attempt which I stupidly started at 10pm at night and finished at 12:15am on a weeknight So I didn’t manage to do as much detailing as I had originally wanted since I was craving sleep instead :/
Given time and a third attempt I’d confident I could do a much better job, fingers crossed when Siera arranges a time for the shoot she’ll look many more times amazing

Prime your face, and then apply white foundation all over the face, neck and upper chest. I’d considered doing the shoulders too if you’re planning a real shoot.
The rest of the look is actually very straight forward, simply copy step by step each detail from the original artwork to your face. I primarily used a black gel liner for all the black patterns and used a purple gel liner for the finer details (though it seems to have photographed black) Make sure you have a fine eyeliner brush and be prepared to constantly have to clean out your brush from the white foundation build up.
For the eyes, after placing the gel liner I would set it with a black eye shadow to prevent creasing.
For the yellow I used a yellow cream eye shadow then put on a yellow powder eye shadow to intensify the colour.
I don’t think there is much else I can say about the look tutorial wise, but if you have a specific question let me know in the comments~
Another entry to MUG‘s bi-monthly competition, this time we have an Arabian look, though I reckon I came out looking a bit more Indian than Arabian
Special thanks goes out to Elias and Annie, Elias is responsible for taking these amazing photos! If you haven’t seen his work yet, you must check it out~! And Annie for being my stylist and makeup advisor~! This girl seriously needs to be at every single shoot I ever attend, she is the best stylist, makeup artist, fashion designer and photographer assistant all in one! I love these guys <3
Also shout out goes to the talented Sam <3 Who organised an amazing shoot that day which I attended to play makeup artist and graciously allowed me to borrow some space for this shoot I will post about the shoot very soon~
All my jewellery was on sale at Diva and have been altered by myself. The scarf is one of my beautiful Louis Vuitton scarves, I absolutely love it (though haven’t worn it out yet) it has a map of the entire world on it~ I confess, I’m a huge LV addict though I do my best to hide my addiction from most people

Face
After primer and foundation, take a bronzing powder and contour the face to sharpen all your features. Use a matte highlighter to highlight the high points to assist with this, and finish off with a pink blush to the cheeks. This process will probably the take the longest, but do take your time because if done well it will stand out!
Eyes
Prime your lids, then dust a white eye shadow all over the brow bone, inner corner of your eyes and lower lash line. Take a gold eye shadow and apply with your finger directly on the lid. Next take a maroon shadow and apply directly into the crease, blending upwards. Don’t blend into the eye lid, we want a distinct cut look.
Next take a black gel liner and line your upper lash line, winging it out. I would next time consider either drawing a thicker liner or smudging it out a bit, I don’t think I used enough liner for my look. Draw a line just below your lower lash line, traditionally Arabian women line their water line, but for a bit of a different twist to the look I decided on this instead
Curl your lashes, apply a coat of mascara and then apply your false lashes.
Define and extend your brows with a dark brown eye shadow and set with a clear gel.
Lips
Line and fill in your lips with a dark red lip liner, then cover up with a plummy lipstick.
I’m really getting into entering as many makeup competitions lately, not so much to win (though it would be nice) but it helps give me ideas and inspiration on what looks to do next. This is my next entry into Makeup Geek’s Valentine look~ It’s much more toned down than usual, to me it almost looks wearable, just need to lose the excess blush and hearts ;D

Face
Prime, foundation, conceal and set with powder as usual.
Cheeks
Apply a soft coral pink to the apples of your cheeks and extend all the way to your temples. Then take a more pigmented magenta pink blush and work that into your temples. Take a matte white highlighting powder and highlight all your high points.
Taking a red lipstick, draw 5 hearts along your cheek bone and place a heart shaped rhinestone at the end of one of the lines.
Eyes
Prime your lids, take a white eyeliner pencil to the inner corner of your eyes, inner lower lash line and brow bone. This is my way of “priming” for white eye shadow to make it stand out more. Then apply a white eye shadow over the white eye liner.
We’re going for a generic neutral brown eye hear, so take a medium brown to the lid and a dark brown to your crease, concentrating on the outer corner of your eye. Blend! Pat on a bit of white eye shadow to the center of your lids.
Line your upper lash line with a black gel liner, curl your lashes and apply mascara. Then apply your false eye lashes.
Define your eyebrows and extend them using a dark brown eye shadow. Then set them with a clear brow gel.
Lips
Line your lips with a red lipliner and fill in, I always fill in as this is my way of priming the lips but also ensuring the colour stays on for longer. Go over the liner with a red lipstick, then apply a pink link stick to the center of your lips for added dimension.
