Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils Set

Who hasn’t heard of the Urban Decay Glide on Pencil 24/7 Eyeliners? They are probably one of the most popular eye pencil liners on the market. I purchased the 15 Anniversary set very early this year, and only recently have decided to crack it open. If you love Urban Decay liners, this is a must buy because it’s a lot cheaper than buying the liners individually. You get 15 liners and a duo sharpener.

Urban Decay 15 Year Anniversary 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils Set

I’m generally a fan of these types of liners, soft, creamy and very pigmented. The natural downside is that you will need to sharpen these often to keep them sharp.

One thing I have to say about these liners that I don’t love so much is the fact that they can smudge after a few hours of wear. Nothing terribly bad, but enough for it to be noticeable, this is when I chime in to say why I love my Savvy by DB – Luxury Liners so much! If only they came in a wider range of colours~

However there aren’t any many other companies that will produce such good quality liners in such a wide range of colours, exactly why I’m still giving it such a high rating and recommendation, try them out!

Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette Review, Swatches and Photos

Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette

Pros:

  • Extremely pigmented, without being powdery
  • Great shimmery neutrals for everyday
  • Comes with a mirror
  • Perfect size for travel

Cons:

  • Can be too pigmented for beginners

Price: $32US

Rating: Fable in Fashion's Rating

Where: Sephora

Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette

I think I could rattle off a small list of companies whose palettes I always need to own, those would be Too Faced, Coastal Scents and Urban Decay (and probably more I can’t think of now without looking at my collection).

Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette

Introducing the not so new Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette, which is a Limited Edition set so be sure to check it out if it strikes your fancy.

Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette

I -love- this palette. I’m a huge fan of shimmery colours, they just look amazing on the lids~ And this palette is nothing short of intense pigmented shimmery eye shadows. I love highly pigmented shadows that don’t produce a heap amount of fall out. This is mainly because I always find myself having to fall back on to pigments, which naturally produce a ton of fall out on the cheeks :(

Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette

Urban Decay Rollergirl Palette

The pencil liner provided is Whiskey, which is a very popular brown eye liner that came in the original Urban Decay Naked palettes, as well as a lovely raspberry pink gloss which did prove a bit sticky for my own tastes.

All in all, the shadows certainly won me over and are the stand out item from this set; I think this would make the perfect gift for people wanting to stick to neutral eyes with a twist.

Book of Fables: Chapter 54 – Bohemian Nights

Celina Book of Fables - Bohemian Nights

A couple of weeks ago I went out to The Meat & Wine Co for dinner (fantastic food btw :9) and was inspired to do a bohemian look when I saw their beaded curtains with the orange night lights filtering through. So I went home, pulled out all the beads I had in storage and created my own “beaded curtains”, and there you have it!

Special thanks to Toby for taking the photos for me, I was holding reflectors in both hands during the entire shoot, and it took a bit of time to figure out how to set up the background, lights etc! It was both frustrating and rewarding <3

Hope you enjoy the look, I'm really enjoying stepping up the Book of Fables to a new level and am already hard at work creating a bunch of props for future shoots, but please don't expect them for every chapter! I work both a full-time and part-time job so I don't always have the time :(

OH! And before I forget, today is the last day to enter Fables in Fashion’s First Giveaway! Finishes at 5pm, Melbourne, Australia time! So be sure to enter if you would like to win some cool prizes, I’ll be throwing in a few other samples for the winner :)

Celina Book of Fables - Bohemian Nights

Face
Prime, apply foundation, concealer and powder to set. I wanted my skin to appear more “warm” and glowy, so I applied a bronzer to my temples and jawline, applied blush to my cheek bones and a highlighter to the cheeks, bridge of my nose and forehead.

Eyes
Prime your lids, then take a light tan shadow and apply all over the lid, up to the brow bone, inner 1/3 of the lower lash line and inner corner of the eye. Take a medium brown and apply directly on to the eyelids, pat down the colour to intensify it and only blend out the edge closest to the crease.

Celina Book of Fables - Bohemian Nights

Take a deep brown and apply to the 2/3 outer parts of the crease and the outer corner. Blend up towards your brow bone and wing it out. Take a brown eyeliner and line your upper lash line and follow the shape of your winged eyeshadow. Next take a black eye liner and line your water line.

Take a teal coloured eye liner and apply directly on to the lower lash line, really pack on the colour, you can set it with a teal eye shadow powder if you lack lower lashes to help keep the colour in place (I should have done this!)

Fill in and extend your brows with the deep brown eye shadow. Curl your lashes and apply black mascara.

Lips
Line and fill in your lips with a muted pink lip liner and coat with an electric pink / red lipstick.

Book of Fables: Chapter 50 – Pink Flutter

April 1st, 2011 § 14 comments § permalink

Welcome to Chapter 50, I can you believe I’ve been doing Book of Fables for almost a year now!? Crazy right? I’m glad I’ve managed to keep it up, only slightly disappointed I haven’t done many videos though :( But you know, take each day as it comes and do what you can :)

For this look, I wanted something simple and light. Not sure how I feel about my look as a blonde, but at least by lightening my brows everything “fits” just a little bit better.

I rarely smile nor show any real happy emotions in most of my photos, so attempting this shoot was a nice change. It just made me want to smile and be happy :) I hope I was able to convey that in some of my photos~

Face
After primer and foundation, start to contour your face lightly with bronzer. We only want to create gentle shadows here, use a shimmery white highlighter and pink blush to help sculpt your face. We’re aiming for a youthful delicate look.

Eyes
Comb back your brows and cover them with concealer, then coat them with a medium brown eye shadow. You only need to do this step if you have dark eye brows like me.

Prime your lids, then apply a white shimmery eye shadow to your entire lid, crease and brow bone. Take a pink powder and apply directly into your crease, blend out so that the pink will appear above your eye lashes when your eyes are opened… if that makes sense. Bring some of the colour down to your lower lash line.

Take a white eyeliner pencil and fill in the inner corner of your eyes. Take a medium brown shadow and deepen the depth by applying to the outer corner of your eyes. Next take a glitter gel and dab just a bit to the centre of your lids, then apply pixie glitter on top of that. Feel free to brush a bit of glitter over any highlights of your face too for added “sparkle” if you feel like it.

Line your upper lash line with a black pencil liner and smudge it out with a cotton tip. Curl your lashes and apply 1 coat of any black mascara. Take a set of false lashes (the ones I used were pink with glitter on them) and apply.

Glue two small silver crystals to the outer corner of your eyes.

Lips
Fill in your lips with a magenta lip liner, then coat with a layer of pearlescent pink lipstick.

Book of Fables: Chapter 42 – Rainbows

February 4th, 2011 § 11 comments § permalink

Thought it was time to did a more light hearted look given my last few have been very bold and stern? Also it seemed perfect for the Makeup Geek’s Eyeliner competition, this is of course my entry :) Everything used around the eyes is all eyeliner~

It’s a super fun look, but not at all wearable for more than say 5 minutes because of how bad the cream liners kept creasing and since the rules stated I could only use eyeliners on the eyes I wasn’t able to pat them down with some powder. Either way, they lasted long enough for my mini photo shoot, hope you enjoy!

Please note that you do not need to use the brands I mentioned below to achieve this look! Use whatever brand / product you feel will do the job~ Get creative!

Face
MAC Prep + Prime – Skin Base Visage
MAC Mineralize Satinfinish SPF 15 Foundation – NC20
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer – NC15
MAC Studio Fix – N4

Cheeks
Illamasqua Powder Blusher – Unrequited

Eyes
L’Oreal HIP Color Chrome Eyeliner – Blue Spark
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils – Lust
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil – Rocky Mountain Green
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil – Electric Blue
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil – Orange
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil – Yellow
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil – Purple Velvet
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil – Hot Pink
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil – Cherry
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil – Milk
Maybelline the Falsies Volum Express – Very Black

Lips
MAC Lipstick – Angel

Face
Apply your primer, foundation, concealer and a powder foundation as usual. I used a powder foundation this time because I wanted truly flawless finish.

Cheeks
Apply a rosy pink powder blush to the apples of your cheeks.

Eyes
Start at your lash line, and first apply a purple eyeliner, then on top of that a blue, then a green, then yellow, then orange and finally red! If your eyeliner pencil is too blunt, use a thin eyeliner brush to dab the tip of the eyeliner and apply it on your eyelid. Be careful as you do this since the lines are pretty thin, and do your best to not open your eyes all the way or you may experience a lot of creasing :3

Draw white fluffy clouds on the outer corner of your eyes with a white eyeliner, and then using your eye liner brush draw stars where ever you feel like :) Get creative~

Finally curl your lashes and apply your favourite mascara!

Lips
Apply a soft pink lipstick to complete the look.

Book of Fables – Chapter 35: Latin Nights

December 17th, 2010 § 12 comments § permalink

I’ve never seen myself so tanned before but I think the tanned skin actually suits me! (Not that I plan to start tanning, no no! Natural skin tone FTW) I almost feel like I’m playing a character with this look, but the look is rather provocative / out there, at least for my personal every day tastes. But yeah, that’s what I love about cosplay and makeup, being able to completely transform yourself~

Still, I could so imagine wearing this look to a Salsa club at night~ :D

I altered these cheap earrings from Diva since I don’t have pierced ears. Bought a stack of stuff there for literally under $30 that I plan to use for costumes and future looks~ I don’t normally wear jewellery in my everyday life so the cheaper the better XD; (So long as it lasts long enough to take photos)

Face
MAC Prep + Prime
Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation – Sand Beige
Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder – Light
Rimmel Natural Bronzer Sun Bronze

Cheeks
MAC Powder Blush – Dollymix
Canmake Highlighter

Eyes
MAC Paint Pot Painterly
Illamasqua 4 Colour Liquid Metal Palette
NYX Ultra Pearl Mania – Gold Yellow
Lime Crime Magic Dust Pompadour
MAC Pigment – Teal
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil – Zero
MAC Fluidline – Blacktrack
Chanel Sculpte Sourcils Cendre – Noir
L’Oreal Extra Volume Collagene -Noir
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler

Lips
Maybelline Lip Pencil – Rose
Christian Dior Lipstick – 355
Christian Dior Lipstick – 255

Face
After priming your face, if you have a light skin tone try and use a slightly darker foundation. Instead of using normal powder, use a light bronzer to set the foundation all over your face, neck, chest and shoulders.

Cheeks
I used a medium bronzer and highlighter to contour your face. Add a medium pink blush to your cheeks, it should appear very subtle, like the pink is just glowing.

Eyes
Prime your lids, then use a yellow cream shadow all over the inner half of your lid and brow bone. Blend a blue cream shadow to the outer corner of your eyes and under the eye. With a green cream shadow, blend it all the way up and out towards the hairline and past the brows. Set all the cream shadow with a matching pigment.

Line your upper lash and water line with a black liner, and draw on some lashes above and below your eye. Shape your brows with a dark brow pencil.

Curl your lashes and apply two coats of mascara.

Lips
Line and fill in your lips, fill in with a light pink lipstick, then apply a darker pink lipstick to the center of your lips to add dimension.

Book of Fables – Chapter 30: Kerrigan

November 12th, 2010 § 7 comments § permalink

This is my Kerrigan look, my failed look I was talking about earlier on twitter, because this looks nothing like Kerrigan. But with the support of Toby I decided to post it anyways.

For those who don’t know, Kerrigan, otherwise known as the Queen of Blades is the main villain in my latest gaming obsession Star Craft 2. She was originally part of the Terran army, betrayed by her fellow man and then left to become infected and rule the Zerg race. I absolutely love her character design, if I was daring enough to appear naked, I’d totally cosplay her~

One thing I did really love about this look is how different it appears depending on the lighting. See below in one shot when taken at twilight, I look like a muddy forest nymph! Yet, when taken with candlelight, I look completely different :D

Hope you enjoy the look, it sure took me a long time to put together~

Ingredients

MAC Prep + Prime
MAC Pigment Emerald Green
NYX Ultra Pearl Mania – Black Pearl
NYX Ultra Pearl Mania – Lime Pearl
NYX Eye/Eyebrow Pencil Medium Brown

NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil Black Bean
Coastal Scents 88 Ultra Shimmer Palette
NYX Triple Eyeshadow Tropical / Yellow / Lime Green
Rimmel Quad Eye Shadow – Smokey Noir

Rimmel Soft Kohl Jet Black
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil Zero
L’oreal Extra-Volume Collagene Black

NYX Lipliner Pencil Black Berry
NYX Jumbo Lip Pencil Narcisse

Recipe

Face
Prime your entire face, dark green pigment (I mixed a green pigment with a black pigment). Buff the dark green all over the face, focusing stronger pigmentation to hollows of your cheeks, temples and any place you want to create shadows. Use a lighter green pigment as a highlight, use on your forehead, cheekbones, bridge of your nose and chin.

Using a brown pencil liner, simulate the look of veins over your cheeks, chin and forehead.

Eyes
I used light gray contacts for this look. Next prime the eyes, then line and cover the lids with a black cream shadow. Using some left over dark green pigment, apply this to your crease to create a smoky look. Then take a black eye shadow to the outer corner of your eye, flick it out for a cat eye effect.

Under your eyes, simulate “dark circles” with a berry like eye shadow. Then just under the berry colour apply a yellow shadow. This is suppose to emphasise tired, drained, dark circles to a more extreme level. Make sure to blend out any harsh lines, but avoid over blending as we don’t want muddy colours.

With a black pencil eye liner, use a heavy hand to line your eyes and smudge it out. After smudging, it will be worth lining them again. We want a very heavy dark black appearance around the eyes. Be sure to line your waterline as well for the full impact. Don’t be afraid to be messy with it, we want a smudgy drained wrecked look :)

Curl your lashes and cover them with black mascara.

Using a black eyeliner, colour in your brow and extend them to create a high arch. Go heavy with the liner, no need to be subtle here!

Lips
Line your lips with a black lip liner, then apply a berry red colour to the lips. Blend it into the black liner for a “gothic” effect.
