June 21st, 2010 § 4 comments

MAC Pro Eye Makeup Remover

Pros:

  • Removes most makeup instantly
  • Gentle on skin
  • Water based

Cons:

  • Won’t remove waterproof makeup

Price: $34AU

Where: MAC website, Myer, David Jones or any stand alone MAC stores.

It’s been a whilst since I’ve done a review, that’s mostly because I haven’t come across any noticable new products lately. I know this makeup remover is not new by any means, but it is brand new to me!

I used to use Dermalogica Soothing Eye Make-up Remover (was on my 2nd bottle), but one day I got a sample size of MAC’s remover and decided to give it a go since I remember my dear Sefie talking about that being the remover she used. And wow, it was amazing! When it removed my very heavy eye makeup in one swipe I knew I was converted. The product is very concentrated, so you really only need a little bit to remove a lot of makeup all over the face (not just the eyes).

Given my oily skin, I absolutely can’t stand oil-based removers (not to mention how inconvenient it is when I’m in a rush), so I love that this is water based. It’s also very gentle to my skin, no irritation what so ever. It isn’t drying so I actually use this in between makeup looks throughout the day since it’s so gentle yet efficient! (I used to use makeup wipes, but using them twice in a row left my skin feeling a bit raw)

The down side is it won’t remove waterproof makeup, but I don’t use waterproof makeup at all, so this is never a problem for me :) If you do, I would recommend an oil based remover. I keep on in my collection just incase.

I know it’s not the cheapest remover, but I would still recommend this to anyone. MAC is generally pricy, so if you’re going to walk away with one product, I’d pick this!

Actually, I used the dual-phase “Gently Off” remover, not this one XD;; I would always use a toner afterwards to get a completely squeaky-clean feel. I’m using Garnier Clean Sensitive 2 in 1 Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover (long name!) at the moment, and it’s definitely more oily and I need to use toner twice to get rid of the feeling :( Still searching for my HG!

Ooh that toner suggestion is a good idea! (It also gives me an excuse to get a new toner..).

Hmm, might try the Gentle Off version, depends if it is oily or not. I can’t hack oily removers at all @_@

I honestly just use Baby Oil–not sure if that’s what it is called in Australia. Or Olive Oil works just as well and oh so cheap!

It’s also called Baby Oil in Australia :)

Yes, Olive Oil is just a great addition, I use it to clean my brushes sometimes and would totally use it as a makeup remover if it weren’t oil based :)
