These lip balms are a limited edition release from Clarins’ Enchanted Summer 2012 collection. In today’s post I decided to feature two shades, Crystal Pink and Crystal Violet.
The packaging and general appearance of this product is the high point for me, the tubes are very sleek and pretty. And check out the actual bullets! A thin tube of solid colour, encased around a semi-transparent balm. It’s a really cute idea and I won’t admit that it was packaging and appearance that made me buy them…. even though that’s completely true…
Packaging aside the scent on these are amazing! I don’t normally enjoy scented products, but these smell like candy! I spend far more time sniffing these than wearing them (not weird at all), and that is because these don’t apply as great as I wish they would. Which is such a disappointment because I love everything else about these lip balms except for actually wearing them! Purpose = defeated.
Two main reason, the first is that these are really not that moisturising at all, in fact when I had dry lips and applied this it only made my lips feel dry, if not drier.
And the second is the inability to evenly distribute the colour when applying these. If you see the photos below, you’ll notice that the colour is pretty uneven on my lips, and that’s because only the center of the lip balm distributes colour, the rest is really just a clear balm that smudges it a bit. As a result, just the center of your lips will get colour, I tried to be smart and move the middle of the bullet around my lips more but because I couldn’t see exactly where the colour was being applied, it just resulted in a very uneven finish
That’s my take on these, though I’ve seen plenty of girls who love these so to each their own. Try before you buy if you can, I’ll definitely keep these to maybe wear at home (or sniff), they are too pretty and expensive to just throw out If you’re keen you can purchase these online for $24.50US or $34AU from David Jones or Myer.
