NYX Waiting for Tonight Review, Swatches and Photos

NYX Waiting for Tonight

If there was one makeup product that was my Achilles heel, it would be palettes. It’s actually quite surprising and slightly depressing how many palettes I somehow still manage to justify in all my purchases, despite knowing full well I have really no space for them. So when Cosme De contacted me recently and asked whether I’d consider testing out this lovely NYX Palette for them, I couldn’t say no!

This palette by NYX is called Waiting for Tonight (which really reminds me of Jennifer Lopez’s song, a favourite of mine back in the day)

The palette contains 32 eyeshadows, 4 brow powders, 2 blushes, 1 bronzer, 4 lip colours, 3 cream correctors / concealers and one gigantic mirror! Quite the travel friendly companion.

To give this palette a real test, I kept it as my everyday palette for two weeks! If you’re a fan of matte colours then this palette may not live up to your expectation, it is mostly made up of shimmery shades with a few mattes here and there, mostly those that sit in the neutral family. Not surprisingly, the majority of colours here are more suitable for everyday wear and smokey eyes, perfect for the night. These shadows are like every other NYX shadow I’ve tried, good quality, especially for the price you pay.

Next would be the blushes, which I really did enjoy, the colours suited my skin tone to a T and are pigmented and blendable enough for just a couple of swipes. Next what caught my eye were the brow powders, my favourite and most suitable were the darkest greyish shade, which matched me perfectly! And you know this is a tough area for me, so far the only brow products I’ve found that match me were my favourite Chanel brow pencils.

As for the rest of the palette, the lip colours were not my favourite but are still workable if you need a quick fix. The only part I wasn’t too keen on were the concealers / correctors. Personally I prefer highly pigmented, rich thick concealers like Bobbi Brown and Benefit. These were very sheer, though easily melted to the warmth of my fingers. So if you don’t need a whole lot of concealing then maybe these concealers will suit you.

All in all, I really love this palette~ It’s a little larger than the size of my entire hand, so not the smallest of palettes, but with the range it offers I think it’s great. Very travel friendly as the hard case helps protect the makeup from being crushed and the massive mirror is a big win as well.

If you’re someone who enjoys putting together smokey looks then this will be perfect for you, for someone mostly interested in neutrals or vibrant colourful looks, you may not get exactly what you’re looking for.

All the pans with a * against them are the ones I used in my look below.
