The YSL Youth Liberator Serum Foundation has been around for a while, I remember when it hit the market middle to late of 2013 and it was all over the blogosphere!

I decided to hold back for the longest time, I already have more than enough foundation to last a few life times, did I really need to try this? The answer is always yes, and the justification is I’m a beauty blogger! It’s my job to try new things….

Safe to say however the hype was not a lie, at least not for me. I love this foundation, the consistency reminds me a little of Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum. Thick but not goopy or anything like a mousse.

Coverage is medium, but buildable and it smells a little like baby powder? I don’t mind at all, it smell clean to me. The finish has a beautiful very subtle glow, no such thing as shine. The example photos I have are featuring just the foundation without any face powder to set it. As you can see, the glow is gorgeous and it dries almost matte you really don’t need a powder to set it unless you have particularly oily skin.

Wearability is pretty much like any other good foundation I’ve tried, lasts the entire day but does tend to show wear by around the 5-6 hour mark.

It’s said to contain ingredients to help improve your skin condition overtime, can’t say I noticed a difference and even if I did, hard to say if it was my skin care, diet, emotional state or environment. These sorts of things are incredible hard to measure so I generally rend to disregard them with foundations.

All in all, one of my top favourite foundations now and I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase it!

If you’re interested, you can purchase a bottle for yourself online for $69USD. I don’t have the Australian price unfortunately 🙁 (I tend to purchase most of my makeup online due to the lower price point)

Keep Up with Mia

  1. Hmmm….interesting and impressive. This seems like a great product to try out. It seems to blend well with the skin. I also don’t mind the scent for I think that’s mild enough. Gonna check this out.

  3. Which one do you prefer between this one and Bourjois Healthy mix serum ? Recently I’ve tried Ysl at the counter once and love its lightweight feeling remind me of Bourjois HTM serum texture and wonder Should I add the another YSL to my vanity? Thanks

    1. Hmmmm… that’s really tough as I love both… I’d give a slight edge to YSL for it’s so called “serum” benefits. Bourjois I find is more buildable!
