Dior Forever Blush Soft Filter Review

Dior has released a range of beautiful whipped liquid blushes called the Dior Forever Blush Soft Filter that come in ten shades. These blushes are truly pigmented and have an almost soufflé like texture to them that have a matte finish. They can be blended out easily with either a sponge, brush or your fingers. I managed to pick up four shades that I felt suited my skin tone the best. The Dior Forever Blush Soft Filter is available from Sephora AU, Adore Beauty or Dior for $79AUD, or at Sephora USA, Nordstrom for $49USD.
Summary
- Highly pigmented
- Wearable colours (at least for fair skin tones)
- Matte finish
- Challenging to apply
- Overlap in some shades once blended out

Application
So I’ve seen a range of different ways to apply this blush, but the most common one seems to be first dotting a few dots of product directly on to your cheek and then using either a brush or fingers to blend it out. I’ve tried using a damp sponge to blend it out, but I do find it tends to pick up more product which requires me to reapply. I’ve actually found the best and easiest way is to simply use my fingers.
That said, I still found this challenging to apply in comparison to a standard compact powder or cream blush. I think it wasn’t just the placement, but more when I tried to blend the blush it kept creeping higher on my temple or too low on my cheek and it just didn’t seem to neatly sit right on my cheekbone where I normally apply blush. I couldn’t tell if it was just me but have found other people online experiencing similar issues. So I definitely don’t think this blush is great for makeup beginners and probably more for seasoned beauty lovers.

Wear
I found that the initial swatches for each blush were quite distinct, but after I blended them out on the cheek you can see that it’s pretty hard to tell the difference between Petal, Peony and Daisy. Hibiscus is the only one that stood out even after blending, but if I were honest I think Hibiscus may be a little on the too pigmented side for me (that or I just need to learn to use less product) as I found it pretty challenging to blend down to a seamless flush on the cheeks.
In terms of wear time, I didn’t think these out performed any other cream blushes I typically use which is to say they don’t tend to last quite as long as a stand alone powder blush, usually by the end of a work day I can still tell I’m wearing blush but it has substantially faded. Again, to me this is standard if you choose to use a liquid blush and if I were looking to prevent fading I would top it off with a powder.
Packaging
As expected, the packaging feels luxe. The bottle is made of glass, so it has a decent amount of weight to it. I know not everyone loves heavy makeup products, but if I’m not planning to travel then I do love the weighted feel as it gives it a more luxury feel. I also appreciate that the doe foot applicator is larger and wider than the typical applicator to help apply a decent amount of product to the cheeks. I will say one minor issue I encountered is how easily the wand pushes out of the tube and it takes a noticeable amount of effort to push the wand back to secure it. If you don’t bother to twist it back in place the wand will be pushed out and potentially dry out your product so it’s something to be mindful of.

Overall
Like? Yes, but not sure I’d go as far as to say I love this product because I do struggle with application. The thing is I absolutely love the range of colours and the matte finish once the product has been applied and I think if I practiced more and learned how to better apply this blush then I could see it become a regular in my rotation.
