My Mocktails ~ Homemade Lemonade

Homemade Lemonade

Time for another episode from the My Mocktails series~ I think featuring this series once a month is a good pace for me 🙂 Today I will be making homemade lemonade~

The original recipe comes from my favourite juice book called “Squeezed” which I purchased a few years ago and am slowly working my way through~ My goal is to try as many juices from this book as I can, it is my favourite 🙂 Part of what I love about this book is how inspiring the styling is, if you have a chance to check it out (Australia only I think), definitely do!

And I say the original recipe because as with most drinks, I tend to change different elements to suit my tastes 🙂

I started off by grabbing about 5 lemons and squeezed each of them out.

I prefer my lemonade to be without pulp, I usually love pulp (especially with my orange juice), but because lemons naturally so tart, I wanted to remove the pulp.

I usually end up with about 140ml worth of pure lemon juice. Normally the recipe calls for about 65g of sugar, but I have a terribly sweet tooth and so I usually double or sometimes triple the amount of sugar depending on what I’m feeling like. I know, terrible! But it really makes you think how much sugar must be in regular soft drinks and juice!

After that I add around 1 and a half cup of water, stir till everything is dissolved and we’re good to go! Add a few ice cubes to keep your lemonade cool~ A simple easy to make drink perfect for the warmer months 😀
